Interwoven
Through culture we discover creativity.
Noor, a woman in her 50s, is an aspiring artist who owns a charming textile shop in Arab Street. She has lovingly designed and made a garment for her daughter Nadia on her birthday, but Nadia rejects the garment, saying that it’s just not her style. Hurt, Noor begins to wonder if her children even regard her as a creative person.
Noor displays Nadia’s outfit in her shop, and it gets spotted by influential Singaporean culture shapers such as Ivan Heng and Zul Othman, who use her fabric for their own creative expression. This in turn inspires Noor to further her own craft as she catches a glimpse of these artists’ work and become a culture shaper herself – a role she would never have dreamt of when she made the fabric.
